Ninja Anim

I put this process sheet together for an article on Mark of the Ninja but it wasn't used so I'm posting it here. Basically the red roughs are the keys as drawn in Flash. Then for purposes of getting rough anim in the game quickly I tightened up my keys and filled them grey so they'd read over the bg's. The colored versions are the end product after being built in Flash. Later!

Hey everyone! Mark of the Ninja officially dropped on Xbox Live last friday and is receiving really positive reviews. I encourage everyone with a Xbox to pick it up and give it a play. In the meantime I've been doing wallpapers that will be released over the next few weeks. I'll post em up here early though so you guys can have a first look. Also, my personal stuff has taken a back seat to wedding planning. Janis and I are getting hitched tomorrow, so wish me luck! Maybe I'll throw a couple photos up when the dust settles. Later!

Mark of the Ninja

So Mark of the Ninja was announced a while ago and actually comes out as an Xbox exclusive on Sept 7. This Text Adventure is the second of it's kind to promote the game and I got to do the illo's. So check it out! Also this was a bit of concept art I did (with bg by Meghan Shaw) for the game quite a while ago. I was the lead animator on the game and can't wait to show you guys much more process work just as soon as it's released. And... play the game it's super fun!!

Quick anim test

Basher costumes

These guys are some variations on the Basher design by yours truly! We actually set up the anim pipeline to handle all those weapon variations within one Flash file.  Some anim cycles to come shortly.


This was the final design we settled on for the Basher class in the game. Jeff Agala did the final design, this is just a pose I did for some promo stuff.

Here's a few more random ones. I still wanna use that ninja for something sometime.
Here's another lineup we didn't use. Dan Yu did the rough sketches for these and I tightened them up. Just some subtle variation going on.


More of the creature type concepts. Definitely inspired at the time by Kung Fu Panda and also I think I was scope'n that old Disney cartoon Gargoyles. More of that silhouetty business as well.


Just more variations of the same. I was toying with using a little more texture on these guys.
In the lineup on the top, the idea was just to focus entirely on silhouette and then build the detail up from there. The game characters were going to be "skinable" so I started doing some variations on the creature character.
Hey everyone! A while back I had the chance to do some concept work for a game we were trying to reboot. Things didn't work out and the game was never finished but I did have a lot of fun working on it. I'll be posting some design work as well as some of the animation in the next little while. Later.

Shank 2 boss poses

Hey guys.  Here's another pose breakdown from Shank 2. This is the Doctor boss, I sadly didn't get to animate him but still had a lot of fun posing him out. All these poses were drawn in Flash and you can see that the cleanup isn't super tight but that's because we have the build stage (converting the poses to symbols) which brings the drawings to full cleanup with a vector line.  More to come!
